Candy Cane Party

Party Ideas by Party Consultant Michelle Hylton         Updated: 01/25/2012

www.PartyShelf.com

This theme was inspired by one of my favorite games as a child, "Candy Land". Take your guests on a sweet walk through the Candy Cane forest, craft some candy cane decorations, play some fun candy cane games and best of all eat some candy canes!

INVITATION IDEAS

Candy Cane Invite Paper Shaped Candy Cane Print your own

Using a box of candy canes, some white and red card stock, and ribbon. Make a small card out of your paper and write all of your party details on the inside. Hole punch the card in the top left-hand corner and string ribbon through to attach to your candy cane.

Cut out candy cane from white card stock or find candy cane stripe scrapbook paper.  For white card stock, use a red pen to write party details along the stem of the candy cane. Add a small stick on magnet to back so guest can put it on their refrigerator so they won't forget.

Using your own software and clipart or free online clipart, design your own invitation to print off.

Supplies:

Wood Chopsticks

Candy Cane per team

Divide guest into teams.

Set up a two lines, one is the starting line and the other is the turn-around line.

Each team player is given a chop stick and they all line up behind each other at the start line.

The first team player is given the candy cane to hang on his chopstick.

The object of the game is to have each player walk to the turn around point and back to the start line while keeping the candy cane on their chopstick, using only one hand to hold the chop stick.

If the candy cane falls off  the player must start again at the start line.

When the player returns successfully to the start line, they must slide the candy cane onto the next person's chopstick.

Once a team player has completed they go to the back of the line and sit down.

The first team to have all players successfully go up and back with their candy cane wins!

Supplies:

large cutout candy cane

small cutout bows

sticky tack

Place large cut out on wall. Mark with marker an outline of where the bow should be pinned.

Put a piece of sticky tack on the back of each bow.

Give each player a bow. Have each player blindfolded and spun around twice. Set them off in the right direction to try to pin the bow on the neck of the candy cane.

Supplies:

Chalk board, wipe board or poster board

miniature candy canes

Marker

This game is similar to hang man. You choose a word and put blank lines that represent each letter of the word.

Give each player candy canes.

Have kids sit in a semi-circle facing the board. The first player tries to guess a letter in the puzzle. If the letter is not in the puzzle they lose a candy cane. Kids must try to remember what letters were called already or they will lose a candy cane.  If they guess a letter in the puzzle they keep their candy candy and get a chance to guess the puzzle.

If they don't know or guess incorrectly play continues to the next player. Play continues until the puzzle is solved or everyone runs out of candy canes.

Those who still have candy canes when the puzzle is solved can keep them.
