Button Spider

Crafted Button Spider

This is a very simple craft that I did with kids in a Backyard club for Halloween.  Below are the supplies needed and instructions.

Materials:

  • black felt

  • 2 black pipe cleaners

  • 4-hole black button

  • 1 pair of wiggly eyes (5mm)

  • glue

Assembly:

Cut a figure eight shape from the felt with the bottom half larger than the top. This will be the body of your spider.

Take the 2 black pipe and cut them in half giving you four equal length pipe cleaners.  Take one pipe cleaner and slip through one of the holes in the button, matching the ends together make one twist around button to secure.  Do the same with the other three pieces. This will make your eight spider legs.  Slightly bend the tips of each leg.

Now glue the wiggly eyes to the smaller half of the black felt body.  And finally to finish off your spider glue the felt body to the top of the bottom.

I would rate this as a simple craft for ages 4 through 7.
