Blow Out! |
Name That Tune | Who Am I? |
Give each participant a Bazooka bubble gum, give them time to chew it. Then have two or three guests compete. At the same time, have them blow the biggest bubble they can. Through the process of elimination you get the winner. |
Divide your guest into teams. Use our Hand Clappers and give one to each team. Play a short tune the 50's the first team to clap their clappers gets a chance to "Name That Tune". Award points. You can set up your tunes in categories by type of tune or by musician or band. Play several rounds and add up the points to determine the winning team. |
Assign each guest a 50's famous person (music, movies, politics, etc.) by taping a small index card to their back. The guest must go around the room asking other guest "Yes" and "No" questions ONLY. The first person who guesses who they are and tells the hostess or yells it out loud wins. |

Sock Hop Game |
Rock & Roll Trivia |
Piñata |
As each guest arrive they are handed a single sock. Don't tell them what it is for. When your ready to play tell your guest they must mingle around and find the other matching sock to make a pair. The first pair matched wins and ends the game. Another version is to set a time limit on finding your match, this is usually done when there is a large number of guests. All that find their match at the end of the time limit wins a small party favor.
You can find inexpensive socks to use for this at Dollar Stores, Good Will, Resale shops or Garage sales. Just make sure you wash them! |
Divide your guest into teams. Prior to the party prepare trivia questions about the 1950's for your guest. Go round-robin asking each team a question, giving each team at least 5 questions to answer. You can assign points to each correct answer or per round like round 1 they get 1 point, round 2 they get 2 points and so on. The team with the most points at the end of all rounds! Give each winning team member receives a fun party novelty.
Variation: GREASE movie trivia game. |

Photo Opportunity |
|
Twist or Hand-Jive Dance Contest For the Hand-Jive contest don't forget to give your guests a hand clapper to cheer on their favorite couple.
|
On your invitation, ask guest to dress in their best 50's costume. Have a ballot box somewhere in the party room with small pieces of paper and pencils. Have guest vote for the best dressed couple or individual guy or gal. Sometime in the middle of the party, announce the winners and present a prize.
|
Set up a corner of your party room or gym for a photo opportunity. This photo-op corner was done prior to Rock & Roll Scene Setters being available. Now it's much easier to create a great photo-op corner. Don't forget the sticky tack! Use a digital camera or Polaroid to print off pictures. For a kids party you could set up a table for your guest to decorate foam or cardboard frames for their photo. For a school sock hop, you can use a digital camera and set up an area to print them for guest. Use this as a fundraiser and charge per copy of photo. Photos are also great for yearbooks! If having a home party, you can also email or mail a photo back to your guest. |
