Luau Flower Name Necklace

I purchased flower shaped foam craft at a craft store.  They come in various colors.  Using a single hole puncher I punched a hole in one petal of the flower.  I then used glitter glue to decorate the petals on the flowers.  I then personalized each flower with the guest's Hawaiian Name and Real Name.   If no Hawaiian translation was found, I gave the guest another name like Sky, Sand, Flower, Sun, etc.   Click below to find Hawaiian name translations.

To complete the necklace I cut curling ribbon in colorful colors and curled the tied ends and glued a small shell onto each flower.   Each guest was greeted with this necklace instead of a lei.

You can use this craft activity for your Luau party and then let each child decorate their own.  I would suggest you let them dry completely before they put them on.  Also, have each Hawaiian translation written on a index card for them to copy and write on their flower.  Use permanent marker or paint marker for name writing.
